Tips for studying vocabulary

Some of us have prepared a list of things you can do if you have trouble remembering new words in English.

* Make a list of words in English and Spanish. Practice writing them because sometimes you know the word but then you misspell it.

Once you have practised the spelling and memorized the meaning, write sentences with the word in it. It is important to use a context so we learn the meaning and also how to use it.

Example:
dictionary: diccionario
I’ll look up the meaning of the word in the dictionary.

* Do the exercises in the workbook again. Cover the answers and then compare them with your own.

* Make sure that you know if the term is a noun, a verb, an adjective...

* Try to write your own sentences with the new words so you get used to using them.

* Probably, in the unit you are studying, there are texts with these new words. Try to find them and pay attention to the way they are being used in the sentence and the text.
